Good food and attentive service. Long ago there was another Indonesian restaurant we used to frequent and were sad to see it close. Happy this place showed up. The gado gado is delicious and so was the whole fish, tender and tasty. The noodles hit the spot. Cannot wait to come back to try out more dishes.

One of the Best Meals I’ve Had in LA – An Absolute Gem! This was hands down one of my favorite meals during my LA trips! I walked in with zero expectations, just a craving for Nasi Goreng, and left completely blown away. From the moment we entered, we were greeted by the kindest, most welcoming staff. The place was packed, which is always a great sign, and we immediately understood why once the food started arriving. We were pleasantly shocked by how reasonably priced everything was-especially for LA. We ordered the Nasi Goreng, Mie Tek Tek, beef Rendang, and tea. Let me just say-every single dish was an absolute banger. Each one was bursting with flavor in its own unique way. The rendang was melt-in-your-mouth tender and rich with complex, comforting spices. The nasi goreng and mie tek tek had that perfect hint of smokiness and depth, with beautifully balanced seasonings that kept us reaching for more. Even the tea was immaculate-thoughtfully prepared and the perfect accompaniment to the meal. When a staff member came over to ask how the food was, I meant it with my whole heart when I said, “This is absolutely delicious.” Everyone at our table wholeheartedly agreed. I’m honestly still dreaming about this place. The food, the beautiful decor, and the genuinely sweet and attentive staff-everything was perfect. They were constantly smiling, accommodating, and made us feel truly welcome. Big, big recommend! I’ll definitely be back on my future LA visits, and I hope they continue to keep up this incredible quality. What a gem!

There aren't many Indonesian restaurants around the area so I'm really glad this place exists because their food is actually really good. We got their rendang, nasi bungkus, soto , and cendol as the drink. The rendang is so rich in flavor, I could eat it everyday, and the beef is also super tender. The nasi bungkus is also one of my favorites. So flavorful. So delicious! The soto was a miss in my opinion. It kind of just felt like instant noodles in chicken broth. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't as good compared to the rendang and nasi bungkus. I also wasn't a fan of the cendol. It was way too sweet.

*** 5-star happy hours daily Noon to 6pm. *** Gotta love HH menu that offers entrées, right? Not to mention that they're all very good also. Win-Win! My fave is the "Mie Tek Tek" street noodle dish. Interesting name derived from the sound that Indonesian cooks make while stirring it in pan. Protein rich w/ egg & chicken, and veggies too. Refreshingly charming and comfortably chilled. *** Gotta local Hoppy Poppy IPA to finish. ***
Simpang Asia - I was impressed! Period. Mojito $13 - soju, fresh mint leaves, line juice, and soda water - I loved it! It was sweet but fresh and the soju paired perfectly with the other ingredients. Chicken Sate (4) $8.50 - Grilled chicken skewers served with peanut sauce - very good. The meat used in the skewers is dark meat. The #8 Nasi Bungkus $22.95 - Experience tradition inside a wrap. Chicken curry, beef rendang, sambal egg, vegetables curry and rice wrapped in banana leaves - Note: I removed the sambal egg. - I was skeptical because this dish has a lot going on inside those banana leaves, but, B-A-B-Y, it works. The chicken is not as flavorful as i would like, but, the curry sauce gave the chicken life. The vegetables were delicious and so was the beef. Mie Tek Tek $15.95 - Vintage Indonesian street noodles. Egg noodles, chicken breast, eggs, cabbage, and chinese green. Also very good. All three dishes and my Mojito were slamming. Pros 1. Customer service was great! 2. Issa vibe. It really is. Quaint. Quiet. Low key but full of zing with the soft melody music in the backdrop and beautiful plants that surround you. A beautiful mural on the wall. 3. Food is epically delicious! Loads of flavor. 4. Outdoor seating is available in the parking lot. It is covered. Cons 1. Parking lot is small so that poses a challenge. *On Sundays there is a farmer market so take note for parking consideration. I was still able to find parking inside the lot - believe that!* Other things to note: It's a small restaurant (I prefer that), why a con, because I don't see this as a walk-in/up restaurant because of limited parking and seating limitations. I recommend reservations. This was my first time trying Indonesian food and I'm hooked. I highly recommend Simpang Asia. Pull up LA.

*** Saturday brunch 11am-3pm es bueno. *** We were looking for a change of pace, so why not an Indonesian brunch? It was excellent. This place is so charmingly low key imho. The breakfast burrito was quite a surprise. Not huge yet filling, and more importantly, it was tasty. The sauces here are exceptional. Their noodles too are all seemingly on point. It's kind of hard to go wrong with any of them. *** A neighborhood joint worthy of a visit. ***

There’s so much to choose from here, and everything I’ve tried has been excellent. The kwetiau goreng is the standout dish for me. I love the chewiness of the flat rice noodles paired with all the flavors of the chicken and veggies. I do prefer it to the mie tek tek, which I find has a stronger flavor but is also still delicious. The serving size isn’t huge but I think it’s enough to get you full, and the pricing is fair for the quality and area. Wait staff is always friendly, service is quick, and the place has a modern, clean feel that’s made even better with recent renovations and expansions. The parking lot can fill up on a busy evening, but there’s some free street parking in the residential area nearby as well as another parking lot behind the building. I’ve found on off weekdays it’s pretty quiet, but there’s restaurant does fill up Fri-Sun for dinner.

Great restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Authentically Asian in terms of food.
Gem of a place! Fantastic customer service, pleasant ambiance, and good food. The menu is really well labeled for allergens and the staff is very attentive and listens well to customers' orders. The sauce with the branzino was a little cold by the time it made it's way to me, but otherwise quite good, very flavorful.

Simpang (with two locations in LA) is a real solid place to get Indonesian food in town and this location particularly steps up in terms of ambiance. It is a casual yet elegant and nice restaurant where you'll find all sorts of dishes ranging from fried chicken to noodle dishes. Their cocktails are pretty tasty and unique as well with some Asian flavors. Staff is nice, even if it may at times feel a little understaffed. Plaza parking available.
Nasi bungkus + es cendol the best ever! for me this is the best indonesian restaurant in LA no debat
